NatureBox Review: Healthy Eating Delivered to Your Doorstep

I am really excited for today’s post because I think you’re all going to love NatureBox.

I was introduced to NatureBox in April through the Foodie Pen Pals Program when I was lucky enough to be paired with Molly. Molly and I hit it off right away because we had a lot in common including military life, our love of the Bay Area, and healthy eating.

Molly told me she worked for NatureBox—a relatively new company, dedicated to helping people eat better through delivering healthy snacks to their doorstep monthly. How cool is that?

We are often told that it is best to eat smaller meals throughout the day rather than three large meals because it helps keep our metabolism humming and does not cause peaks and valleys in our blood sugar levels (something which often results in over-eating because we think we are “starving” and thus eat more than we need to).

Although I agree with this philosophy, I find that with my lifestyle and schedule I tend to eat three larger meals with a couple of snacks in between. As you know, I do my best to eat mindfully—but it seems that when I have my slip-ups, it is more often with snacks than with my meals.

Since I do my own cooking, it is pretty easy to control what I eat for breakfast, lunch (I always pack my own lunch), and dinner. However, as much as I try to pack snacks for myself as well, I don’t do such a great job at this. Running errands often takes longer than I expect, which means I end up hungry without any snacks on hand. Sometimes I can buy something healthy, but other times it is slim pickings.

Enter NatureBox. NatureBox provides a service where they send you a box of four to six different snacks once a month. Each box is packed with something different, but you can be guaranteed that you’re going to be getting healthy snacks that have a great balance of protein, fiber, and healthy fats.

These snacks will help keep you full longer and give you the essential nutrients your body needs to get through the day. Plus the snacks are all packaged in pouches that are easy to throw into your purse or gym bag, or even keep in your car or desk at work so you always have a healthy snack when you need it.

Since Molly sent me this box, I have started keeping these snacks in various places so I never find myself without a healthy snack when I’m out and hunger attacks :) .

So do you want to see what was in my box?

Each box comes with a card that gives you some great tips for eating healthier for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. On the back of the card there is a little explanation of each of the snacks included in the box.

My box included:

  • Peppery Pistachios
  • Zingy Currants
  • Smokey Pumpkin Seeds
  • Dried Pears
  • Cranberry Jubilee Trail Mix

"Delivering Better Choices"--free of preservatives and anything artificial!

Peppery Pistachios and Smokey Pumpkin Seeds

Dried Pears and Zingy Currants

Cranberry Delight Trail Mix

My husband and I each tried all of the snacks. Usually I have a sweet tooth, but both of us agreed that our favorite snack was the Peppery Pistachios—so good!

Everything in the package was really delicious and satisfying. It costs $19.95/month to join and honestly at first that seemed like a lot to me, but then I realized it would only amount to $5/week and that seems pretty cheap—that is only $1/workday. How often do you spend a dollar during the workweek without even thinking about it? You might be using that dollar to buy a coffee or something out of a vending machine. Use your money more wisely by putting that dollar towards healthy eating habits and subscribing to NatureBox!

I would highly recommend heading over to NatureBox right now to start taking advantage of their great service.

You can also check out their blog or “like” them on Facebook to get tips on healthy eating and join the discussion about healthy lifestyles.
