Hi Friends! Guess what…..I’m still alive! Did you think I fell off the face of the Earth since I stopped posting? I’m really sorry for the (almost) three week hiatus. As you all know, the holidays are a crazy time and unfortunately my blog quickly fell to the bottom of my to-do list.
I promise to get back into the swing of things in the New Year, but for now, I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to share with you what I received in my December Foodie Pen Pal package. Do you remember that last month I participated in the Foodie Pen Pal program for the first time? In case you missed that post, you can read it here.
To give you a quick background, Foodie Pen Pals were created by Lindsay of The Lean Green Bean as a way to connect bloggers with fellow bloggers and readers. What an awesome idea, right?! Each month, participants are matched with a different pen pal to whom they send a package of fun foodie things, local foods, and/or homemade goodies. The best part is that you don’t have to be a blogger to participate. Last month I was paired with reader, Terrin, who wrote an awesome guest post for MYBT about what she received in the package I sent her.
This month, I sent a package to blogger, Sarah, from Sarah Snacks. I was worried that she wouldn’t get her package before the end of the month, but she emailed to let me know it just arrived (yay!). Stay tuned to her blog to see what fun Japanese snacks I sent to her
.
I received a package from Halley over at Blunder Construction. I was really excited to be paired with Halley because she is from Massachusetts—just like me! She is so sweet and funny. One thing that I love about the Foodie Pen Pal program is that it introduces me to new blogs and fellow bloggers. I just started reading Halley’s blog, but have already bookmarked a ton of her recipes. She is very creative and I find her blog quite entertaining
.
Halley did a great job picking out delicious treats to include in my package. I asked her to try to send the package quickly since I live in Japan and mail can take a long time to get here. Somehow her package arrived from MA in just 8 days!! I emailed her to tell her I think that is the fastest a package has arrived from the East Coast in the history of my time here (4 years!). Thanks, Halley!
And now onto the goods…..
Everything was wrapped up in Christmas-colored tissue paper with a really sweet hand-written card on top
.
The contents of my package….YUM!!!
Halley loves cats and was excited to find out that I have two cats. I thought her card was so funny!
Wholesome Junk Food? Yes, please! I have never heard of this company, but man were these little cookie bites delicious! I can’t wait to move back to the States to discover many more fun treats like this
. In the meantime, I’ll be ordering online http://www.lauraswholesomejunkfood.com/ from this company because they were that good!

Pretty ribbon candy! This looked too good to eat. I put it out on my dessert table for Christmas. People were hesitant to try it at first because it is so pretty, but after one person dove in, many others quickly followed
.
I also got Justin’s Almond Butter (which I LOVE LOVE LOVE) and sun-dried tomatoes. I love sun-dried tomatoes as well and can’t wait to use them. Plus, as a bonus, Halley included a fun noise-maker that I will definitely use to ring in the New Year tonight!
Thank you for all of the fun goodies, Halley!
Wishing you all a very Happy New Year! I won’t be back until 2012, but I promise that I have some awesome recipes in store for you
.
